Love

Love is basically about acceptance.

If we are enlightened, that is, if we have wisdom, we are free to accept things, people and ourselves as they are and as they need to be, and we can do this because our sense of self doesn’t depend upon these things being a certain way. This is natural.

However, when we allow our Egos and our False Selves to convince us that our very sense of self is tied up in “things”, or ideas or associations, then we may not be able to accept and allow things to be, as they may threaten the artificial sense of self that we have built up for ourselves and given to something temporary and finite.

When we do this, though, this isn’t really who we are. And so wisdom can be thought of as being the basis of love – because without it – without being comfortable in knowing who we truly are ultimately, which is pure consciousness expressing itself by experiencing various different things as they arise – we will unreasonably – and with turbulent effects – reject those things that threaten the artificial “us” we have created.

It’s worth noting that acceptance does not mean giving up or surendering to things.
